Instagram link formats, explained
Reels, posts, videos, and IGTVInstagram uses a different URL path for each kind of post. If you are not sure what you copied, match the link to the table below — Instarin accepts all four formats.
| Link contains | Post type | What you can save |
|---|---|---|
/reel/ or /reels/ | Reel | One short vertical video, sometimes with audio from the original creator. |
/p/ | Feed post | A single photo, a single video, or a carousel with several images and videos. |
/tv/ | IGTV video | One longer-form video, usually horizontal or vertical. |
What “public” means
A public post is visible to anyone, including people who are not signed in. If a profile is private, or a post is limited to close friends, the link will not work here. Instarin does not sign in on your behalf, does not use your Instagram account, and does not bypass privacy settings.
Why a link sometimes stops working
Creators can delete a post, change an account to private, or restrict who can view their content. When that happens, the original media is no longer available and no downloader can retrieve it. Expired or shortened links can fail for the same reason.
Downloading on iPhone, Android, and desktop
Where your files end upiPhone and iPad
Open Instarin in Safari or Chrome, paste the link, and start the download. iOS saves the file through the share sheet or to Files → Downloads, depending on your browser. Videos land in Photos only if you choose Save Video from the share sheet.
Android
Chrome and Firefox save files to the Downloads folder and show a notification when the file is ready. Photos usually appear in your gallery after the next media scan; videos open in your default player.
Mac and Windows
On desktop, the browser saves to its default download location — Downloads in most cases. Use Save link as… if you want to choose a folder, and check the file extension before opening it.
About privacy
